I love using all of my home accessories in different ways to give several different looks. Not only does it save money due to you are not having to go out and buy anything. It keeps your house looking fresh and different (which is motivating to me). I made a video showing how you can take some of your home accessories and make them multi-functional (see below). Hope you enjoy.
Well I finished setting up and organizing the little coffee station in my kitchen. I wanted a place in my kitchen to house all of my coffee and teas along with my Keurig machine. So I found this great wicker cabinet at pier one that fit perfectly. Below is a video tour of my home coffee bar. Video of my home coffee barAbove the coffee bar I framed four photos that I took of my silver teapots. I had purchased the frames from pier one and then I needed prints to place in them. I was talking with one of my dear friends and she encouraged me to take photos on my own of my teapots to use as my prints in the frame. I loved her idea and how it all turned out. Here are the pictures Another view of the coffee bar area:If you have a coffee/tea bar area in your home please share any tips and ideas you may have. I love to gain ideas and inspiration from others. Hope you enjoyed! I had a great time today making my anthropologie inspired teacup lamp! I am very happy with it. I also made a youtube video of me making the lamp. The video is in two parts. You can see both parts below. Hope you enjoy! My Teapot Lamp Tutorial Video Part I My mother gave me this awesome Rum Cake recipe which is super easy and super fun to make! She made it for our 4th of July get together and it was a big hit. So I thought I would give it a try and it turned out FANTASTIC! I love the flavor and how simple it is to make. Here is the recipe in case you want to give it a try yourself.
Monday is here and I am ready for a productive and exciting week! I have several projects going on around the house and with my business, so it is sure to be a busy week. So why not start off the week with a product review for my fellow blog readers. I received a nice message on my blog a week or so ago from a candle company called Harbor Candle Company which is located in Maine. Everyone knows how much I love candles so I checked out their website and decided to order one of their candles to see how I like their product. I love trying new products because you never know if you will like something until you try it. So I placed a order with them for their Sage Leaf Soy Candle. It comes in various sizes and I chose the 10 oz jar for $14.00. The shipping very efficient and I received it within a week, so I was satisfied with that. I like the fact that their site was easy to shop and very user friendly. So upon opening my candle I must say I was extremely pleased with the scent of the candle. It was not too harsh and had a very soft fragrant aroma. The candle included two wicks which I thought was great for a cleaner more efficient burn. Although the candle was great I must say my favorite is actually the free sample of their new Aroma Beads that they sent in the Eucalyptus scent. OH IT IS YUMMY! I smelled it as soon as I opened the box and it was simply amazing. You can tell they are of great quality and according to the company the scent stays present for 6-9 months. These are perfect for your closet, cars, vacuum cleaners, luggage etc. So many possible uses. So this was a real treat. If you are interested in checking out their site you can find them at www.HarborCandle.com. Have a great day my friends! Well this week sure did go by fast! I have been a bit behind with cleaning the house this week, but I got highly motivated today after receiving some new cleaning products I ordered in the mail from a company called Mrs. Meyers. Of course I had to give my blog readers a review on how I like the product . I ran across this product called Mrs. Meyer's while reading this months issue of "Real Simple" magazine. I have been in search of new home cleaning products that smelled great, worked great and were environmentally friendly. So after reading several reviews I decided to go to their website and place a order. I have to say that I am very happy with my purchase. I purchased their cleaning supplies in the basil scent. It cost slightly more than what I was using before (which was the standard variety at your grocery store), but the product will take me a long way. The scent is not over powering and I have to say it really does a good job cleaning. I love the fact that it gives my house a unified smell after cleaning. Before depending on what I was cleaning depended on the product, which every scent was different and very strong. So all in all, I will say I am very satisfied and I think I will stick with them for a while. They offer a variety of scents and products. You can check out their website at: www.mrsmeyers.com. You can also find these products in Whole Foods, but I think the price is a little more expensive. Hope you all have a great rest of your week! I had a great follow-up question to my post on using ceiling medallions to accent your chandeliers. I was asked what are some suggestions for low hanging chandeliers. Great question! Below are some of my suggestions on how you can accent your low hanging chandeliers. You can still use the ceiling medallions with low hanging chandeliers, but by adding one of the extra touches below it would add a more cohesive look. You can purchase fabric covered chandelier covers in a variety of designs online. I have also just added to my "To Do" blog topics "How To Make Chandelier cord cover tutorial". So look for that soon. Hope you find these suggestions helpful. Hope everyone is having a fantastic week! I am busy working away on all of my various projects this week. One project is decorating my dining room. It is another labor of love :). Yesterday I had my new chandelier for the dining room installed. This was not a simple installation of just replacing a light fixture due to there was never a ceiling light fixture in this room. Many builders do not install ceiling fixtures in the formal living rooms of the home, due to the thought process of the builder is that you would only use lamps in your formal living room. Well my living room is my dining room and a chandelier is a must have. So I found a amazing electrician with a company called New Power Electrical. Very professional and I was really pleased with their work. So if you are in need of a electrician in the Charleston, SC area I highly recommend them. Their website is: www.summervilleelectrician.com. So with getting the new chandelier installed, this was the perfect opportunity for me to share a inexpensive way to enhance your room with ceiling medallions. Ceiling medallions add such a great touch to your ceiling light fixture. They usually run between 19.00 and up (depending on the size and style you desire). You can also easily paint them to fit your desired design taste. As you see on the photo of my chandalier below I kept my medallion white to coordinate with the ceiling. You can purchase these items online or at your local Lowe's or Home Depot. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!Well I hope that everyone had a fantastic 4th of July! I really enjoyed mines. I went to my parents home for a great time with family. This year my mother asked if I would do a jewelry making class for the ladies in my family. This turned out to be such a fun time! I actually did two classes with 10 ladies in each class. Was great practice for me, since I will begin to start offering jewerly making classes in my local area. So here are some pictures and description of how I prepared for the class: I wanted to share a quick and easy recipe with you all. One of my friends on pinterest or facebook (can't remember which) tagged/pinned this recipe and I loved it! It is truly my kind of recipe. Easy and with minimal ingredients. As easy as fruit dip recipes can be, my best friend could tell you some horror stories about me and my past fruit dip recipes, but I think I can pull this one off with ease! Hope you all have a wonderful day! |
